A piedi nudi (Barefoot) is an installation that reimagines the chair, a symbol of design, to create a cognitive journey. The question ‘Is that a chair?’ encourages a dialogue about the essence of design and thought. Design should always embody a spirit of lightness. Daniel Goleman highlights emotional intelligence, rooted in the lightness of being, as crucial for survival. Lightness is a way of life, not just idleness, as stated by Italo Calvino. By rethinking the chair, we invite visitors to question their perceptions and engage with the concept of design as a fluid and evolving idea. This interaction promotes a deeper understanding of how objects influence our emotions and behaviours. Each chair's placement and form challenge conventional views, inspiring a sense of curiosity and wonder. Through this exploration, we aim to reconnect with the lost lightness, encouraging a renewed appreciation for creativity and innovation in a world often dominated by practicality and restraint.
Jonathan Bocca (1998) is a Tuscanian sculptural designer from Lucca. Graduated in Interior and Furniture Design at IED in Florence, he got the chance to experience the Fabrica Research Center in Treviso. Here he studied and worked on new materials for his sculptures and objects. Peculiarity focuses his works on the use of recycled paper, a material produced by the waste of the main industries of his hometown Lucca. Processed for some days, is a compound extremely resistant, almost completely organic and well manageable. Raising awareness on the re-use of organic waste in our daily life, Jonathan aims to spread the possibility to change the way design is conceived, starting from poor and recycled materials reinterpreting them and giving them a new life and meaning. The inspiration for his objects comes from dreams, transformed into reality by creating dreamlike creatures.
