Cappella Celesia
Rhythm is the title of a series of paper artworks which begin and end with an apparent simplicity. Intuitively emerging proportions and carefully chosen materials are an essential element to the visual appeal of her work and contribute to create an atmosphere of visual tranquillity. The material is handmade cotton rag paper. The paper naturally exudes a sense of calmness and respect for craftsmanship. Each sheet is unique and asks for minimal addition. With just a few tools and her manual folding, the paper slowly starts to compose its own rhythm. As each paper element has a slightly different shape - some are more open, others curve slightly inwards - a series of whites appear within the work due to the presence of light and your point of view. Move slowly in front of the work and you experience a play of light and shadow. The repetition of elements makes the work satisfying to look at. Unpretentious. A sense of stillness starts to settle in.
