Serra Alta

Pharos series is a limited-edition collection of lanterns made of white refractory ceramic and coloured glass, processed in glass fusion. Some elements are created with stones of Sardinian origin such as natural basalt, reddish-coloured fired basalt and Orosei marble, characterised by the presence of small shells inside. This project stems from a research on lighthouses and sea lanterns in the Mediterranean: a study on the architecture of these buildings, on light as an ethereal medium of communication. Each lighthouse has a recognisable name through its beacon. Each lighthouse determines a point in the territory and it only takes a few seconds of light to reconstruct its location. The ensemble of these architectures defines the contours of a territory, with lines and traces made by ephemeral signs. Inspired by their architecture and the surrounding landscape, the buildings are roughly reproduced to scale, broken down into volumes with similar proportions, and then reassembled, placing them on top of each other, aligning them on one of the sides.
