Unseen bindings explores the impact and role of textiles in our interiors, highlighting their flexible and porous qualities. Through the creation of woven panels, I propose surfaces that evolve under the effect of light, offering new perspectives. These surfaces act as windows in our environment, playing with physical and visual limits, and allowing the space to be modulated and arranged. Made up with different densities of thread, while also alternating empty and full spaces in the same rhythm, the woven surfaces change according to the light and the point of view. This strip structure is inspired by panel blind systems, which allow the blinds to unfold vertically. They have the capacity to filter out or, on the contrary, to reveal, to focus and to accentuate. Through these devices, views are both veiled and captivated by a similar framing as windows, offering new interpretations of the space. This project aims to transform the perception of interior space by inviting a sensory and aesthetic experience, where the lightness of the textile dialogues with the light to create an environment in constant movement.
Sarah Carestia explores the influence of textiles on space. Guided by a dialogue between her body and the loom, she creates flexible weavings halfway between textile panels and movable partitions. Suspended freely in architectural spaces, her works alter spatial dynamics and invite new exploration. Her creations play on the duality between showing and hiding, sculpting levels of transparency through vertical stripes and primary colours. Through her work, Sarah creates spaces in constant metamorphosis, revealing the multiple facets of our relationship with the built environment.
