Madre Fuoco, Sorella Fuoco (Mother Fire, Sister Fire) is a limited edition, signed and numbered collection of ceramics created in 2024 for Spazio Giallo, a multidisciplinary space for interior design, sales, exhibition, colour consulting and creativity, situated in the heart of Rome. The pieces are hand-moulded in stoneware and decorated with the ancient technique of engobe, the application of which is the result of the artist's experimentation aimed at obtaining an intimate, personal, and archaic decorative trait. The collection includes two totemic candleholder sculptures, 'Mother Fire, Sister Fire', and a family of plates, goblets, trays, jugs. The theme of the table is central to this collection, since, as the author states, "for centuries it was the only place where women were allowed to express creativity and care". Ceramics is the material of choice to narrate themes such as the relationship between mothers and sisters, the ability to be guardians of the creative fire, the intimate and profound knowledge of cycles, the weight of the body and inner lightness.
Temperanza, Ilaria Bianchi's alter ego, is the project through which the designer/artist explores the contaminations between ceramics, painting, feminism and magic. A research that starts from a psycho-archaeological matrix, to the study of the original and instinctive creative impulse, defined therefore - magic. The project generates experiences, objects and works of art influenced by symbols, archetypes, arcana and values of matriarchal systems such as delicacy, care and anger.
